Well it’s been a while since our last newsletter! Our last update was at the end of March when I threw Rory into the deep end as I took off on my European holiday. Since I have been back we have been just so busy and I cannot believe it is September!

Like the painter whose house needs a lick of paint, the Swish website has been screaming for a little TLC since my return from Europe. While we are careful not to let things get dated, there’s still lots we could be doing to provide a better service to our clients.

There’s an old adage that applies in the commercial world and applies to pretty much all industries:

Cost - Quality - Speed … Pick two

Meaning:

• If you want something fast AND high quality - you can’t expect it to be cheap.
• If you want something cheap AND high quality - you can’t expect to get it quickly.
• And if you want something to be cheap AND you want it done quickly … you’re going to sacrifice quality.

It’s something that every designer has heard at one stage or another: “You’re the designer, do something creative”. This statement causes designers to quake in our boots because, as designers, it is our job to take your concept or idea and bring it to life in whatever medium you require: poster, flyer, brochure … whatever! When a client says to us “do something creative” this roughly translates to “look I’ve got no idea what I want, see what you can come up with”. Read more »
