If I ever get an email from a client saying “Just wondering how you are going with that job/quote”, I feel like I have let them down in the communication stakes.
Customer service and communication is a very important area where small businesses can create a very definite point of difference.
Are you working on something for a client? Have you been working on it for a good few days or even a week? Have you touched base with them at all during this time?
If you haven’t touched base and even if you have nothing to report, it’s nice to send an email to your client to say something along the lines of “I haven’t forgotten you. I don’t have anything new to tell you about your job but I just wanted to let you know that we are still working on it.”
Your client will appreciate the fact that they are on your mind and it also means you won’t get that email in your inbox saying “how are you going with such and such?”
Do a quick mental audit of the items on your job list. Is there a client on there who might be wondering where you are at with their job? Drop them an email and let them know. Easy.
